Bob-This is what HDR is about! I have been experimenting with it and when it works it is extraordinary! Your vantage point was great and I really like the foreground. The rules have been changed with this new technology as it opens up so many more possibilities.Keep shootin-Mitch

As far as I'm concerned HDR is the new frontier and we have only begun to scratch the surface. I look forward in seeing your HDR experiments. Thanks Mitch!

I have to agree with Oleg but sometimes i make the same mistake. It is hard to crop out something when everything you see is beautiful. This was a great moment and I'm sure you enjoyed it.

This could be a winner, but... Missing strong foreground (object) as composition anchor. It 'might' work without the trees, just mountains and the sky or if the foreground itself was a very colorful foliage. Another composition issue: mountains are placed almost in the middle of the image. Also, I am not sure about the frame's contribution to he value of the image.

Oh yes it has its flaws particularly in the foreground but compositionally I felt it was better to leave it in. I placed the mountains so the bottom section of foreground, the darker section, was in the one third position, so in my mind I don't really feel the image is split in half, just my opinion of course. The frame is always going to be a personal issue, some people like frames and others don't, but I don't feel it has any great adverse effect here, if anything I think it adds strength. I appreciate your honesty and value your input! Thanks Oleg!

Where I live I see views like this all the time, the only thing is, I've never captured a picture like this. When viewing this, I get the feeling I'm actually standing on top of a Mtn looking down in the valley, speachless and thinking to my self, MG this is Beautiful while snapping away at the shutter button hoping to capture it.
You did and it's Beautiful.

I couldn't believe the colors I was witness to that morning... I clicked away for at lease ten minutes, which felt like seconds, hoping I won't blow this opportunity or gift nature was giving me. This capture does little justice and has its flaws but does help me remember that beautiful sweet red early morning. Thanks Donald!

Gorgeous. I love the rising cloud & texture in the sky, plus how you can see the sun's rays beginning to hit the trees in the right hand corner.

This was taken a minute or two before the sun broke thru over the mountains on the far right side. Thanks Tracy!

I think this is a resubmit of an earlier version of the photo. If I'm right, you did a great job with it. It is a beautiful photo and, although the vegetation is dark, that's the way it is on a great morning like this. I love the way you've captured the mist in the valleys. Jim

This shot was taken from the same spot but looking further north from previously posted. I'm glad you noticed that vegetation can and does look like this in the early morning... that's how I remember it being. Glad you like it Jim!

A delicious layer cake of color - the sky is quite nice though I wish the clouds were continuous and didn't have that bald patch towards the right - the central part is perfect except for the small darkish area mentioned already - and the bottom is fine with me except where the fog is - it appears too sharp I think and you lose a little delicacy there - I might try cropping the bottom a little or burning it in to stop the eye from wandering so close to the edge looking at that lighter region. Definitely a "smoky" shot! John

I thought about filling that bald spot at the top but didn't want to over process. As usual compression hurts the smaller foliage. The original HiRes file seems to diminish or reduce some of the problems mentioned. As always, I value highly value your opinion! Thanks john! PS... I'll send you a print of this one when I get my new printer.

Forgive me here but, I just don't like this shot.
The sky is spectacular and very well exposed. There is good contrast and rich colors and the clouds make it even more interesting. And then you go down from the sky a little bit JUST looking at the DISTANT mountains and sky and this image is VERY good. Beautiful shades of grey in the mountains with the sky work extremely well here.
And then you go down past the distant peaks. All the plantlife is this unnatural and ugly blackish-dead looking color. It's not a typical "underexposed", it's some unnatural look, some extra (I'm assuming) processing done on this area or to the whole image.
Overall, top 60% is great, but the foreground is absolutely terrible, and I would suggest a Graduated ND filter for more natural results.

Allow me to also congratulate you on a very nice pic indeed. This is one of the very few HDR shots that I have seen that actually work. So many times, they kill contrast and dramatic lighting in scenes but you've preserved that nicely. Well done! Mike

3 TU's from me Bob - wow, this is a keeper. Great used of HRI, where sometimes it is so overdone. You've done well in capturing the depth of the mountains in the mist. You've just about split the frame in half, land and sky. However, it ends up looking like it is in thirds - being FG land, middle being mountains in the fog and then the great sky. Very nicely done. Regards.

Great shot! Nice bordering. I love that there is no sign of a dirty sensor here. It is all to easy to get a spec show up in an exposure like this and if you cleaned any up you did a great job of it.
I love the HRD of this as well. Got the detail from foreground to background very well. Thanks for sharing. Rusty "Sidewinder" Sessions

I did some cleaning up, my sensor has a lot of dust bunnies which I intend to clean as soon as I'm feeling brave enough to do it. Glad you like the HDR! Thanks for the critique Rusty!
