Very nice one Tm. I really like the water drops, stop motion that the 1000sec caught. Very sharrp and well lit. Godd work. Did you feed him the fish? Thanks --- John

Thanks John! No, it's a natural shot. I shoot this on my lunch time break at a park in Long Beach California called El Dorado Park. These guys are so used to people you can get pretty close but even then it took me a month to get this shot since lighting is never forgiving at noon. :-) - Only in Newport back bay that I play with frozen smelts on occasion.

Hi, Tm. Nice shot and the timing is just right. Good clarity and the white seems so natural. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see you're still getting these great captures! detail on the beak/head/fish is excellent and the water droplets add a nice feel of action to this - only minor thing is the lack of detail on the main body to the left - could use maybe a tad more on the top of head too - and you've probably got it if you try shadow/highlight carefully - keep up the good work! John

Great photo! The shutter speed was perfect for the lighting and just your general settings. The back of the birds head is sharp all the way up to the tip of the beak and the fish as well. Perfect focal plane for this. And the timing on your part with the shutter is right on. Amazing shot! Thanks for sharing it! Rusty "Sidewinder" Sessions

Great capture Tim...how long did you have to wait for this? Or, better put, how many shots did it take? Awesome job!

Thanks Michael! I had about 8-10 shots like this and it's hard to say how long does it takes because I've been shooting them daily for about a month but I don't wait for any particular shot, I shoot what's there. I do have many shot like this but not presentable because of the harsh noon sun (I shoot on my lunch break - 1 hour) and only on this day that I got a bunch of presentable shot like this. I would have prefer to get one with the fish dancing in the middle of the open beak but the 5D Mark II is a bit slow at 3.9 fps and I did not get any. Happy shooting! :-)

Great capture of a beautiful bird catching a tiny fish.
A touch more light on the birds face could improve this image (pp)
Excellent image!

Hi Tm, I like wild life shots a lot and that's the kind of shot I would like to make. Perfect focus and timing. Well done.
