Ripponden is a small village close to Halifax, West Yorkshire. I took this on Halloween with a circular polariser and ND grad. Its a HDR image made from a single RAW file. I'm no processing expert but wanted to retain cloud detail along with autumn leaf colour, and in the process AVOID that nasty HDR 'fake' look ! Would be interested to know what you people think of the result. Shame about the blue van and satellite dishes, but they were there!

It's nice, but - the church spire appears to be tilted slightly to the left. This is the dominant vertical in the picture and you expect it to be vertical. And the saturation looks too strong on my monitor, especially the leaves in the foreground.

Ah, dear old England, even if those houses seems to be sporting a satellite dish! Nice composition, (although I might have cropped a little from the top), and I like the DOF - or is that good detail throughout part of HDR processing? The colours are attractive and vibrant, but I might have calmed the painted orange on the door and windows, and, yes, that blue truck might be best cloned out! Nice shot, Robert. John.

Nicely done Robert. Very good composition and the HDR to get the exposure spot on is a good idea. Good colours and tones. If the blue van were an old man in cloth cap and a Jack Russel terrier on the way to the pub ....... well ignore that - you can't have everything. Mkaes me miss the UK I have to say. That Canon 16-35mm is a great lens - use it myself a lot. Thank you.

I really like the composition using the fallen leaves and the tree to the left as framing elements. Well done. I think you did well with the HDR as the photo looks pretty natural to me. I'm curious why you used a polarizer given the diffuse light you had available? Dan

Thanks Dan. I usually add a CPL on all autumn pics...it seems to help the colours pop, even in overcast conditions!

Beautiful Fall scene...and well photographed, Robert. I agree that the truck is a little distracting. Would have been better to clone it out.

Excellent technically and would be timeless if the truck wasn't parked in it. Still a great job.
